Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Khalifa, discussed efforts to further bolster ties between the UAE and the UK during a meeting with Lord Tariq Ahmad, British Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth, in Dubai. Lord Ahmad thanked the UAE for its support in helping citizens of the UK and other countries safely leave Afghanistan following the Taliban's swift seizure of power. Patrick Moody, Britain's ambassador to the UAE, said late last month that 4,883 people had left Kabul and travelled to the UK through the Emirates. The UAE had shown the strength of its partnership with Britain and how friends stand together in moments of crisis, said Mr Moody. Dr Gargash and Lord Ahmad reviewed the strong bonds between the nations and highlighted issues of regional and international interest during the talks.
