A girl, 6, has been hospitalised after falling from the balcony of her family's third floor apartment in Sharjah. Police and an ambulance were called to the Muwaileh area on Friday, when they found the girl alive but severely hurt. Initial investigations found the girl's family were watching television when she wandered onto the balcony and climbed a chair to look over the barrier. The girl fell three floors and was taken to the intensive care unit at Al Qasimi Hospital, where she remains under observation. Neighbours said they saw the girl standing on a chair and waving before she fell from the sixth floor of the building. Police across the emirates have repeatedly urged families not to leave their children unattended.
