Friday's Sermon: Good deeds are best way to prepare for Eid

Muslim worshippers in the UAE are reminded about the importance of doing good ahead of Eid Al Adha, which takes place in ten days.

The 10 days before Eid Al Adha are the best days of the year to do good deeds, today's sermon reminds worshippers.

"There is no act better for Allah and greater in reward than good [deeds] done in the 10 [days prior to] Al Adha," the Prophet Mohammed said in one hadith.

Muslims should use these days to do as many good deeds and engage themselves in as many acts of worship, including fasting and charity, as possible, says the sermon.

It points out, Allah chose this month for Haj, the fifth pillar of Islam, which is considered one of the greatest parts of worship.

One who performs Haj without arguing with anyone or committing sins, returns sin-free like the day he was born.

"Haven't you known that … Haj demolishes what was before it," the Prophet Mohammed once told his companion Amro bin Al A'as.

The sermon adds: "Haj eases sins and drives poverty away, that is why the Prophet Mohammed called for it and stressed it."
