Four warehouses storing wood and furniture were gutted by a fire in Ajman on Monday night. Some 55 firefighters from Ajman, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain tackled the blaze in Al Jurf industrial area. Brig Gen Mohammed Ali Jumeirah, the director of civil defence fire stations in Ajman said there were no casualties. <br/> He said the operations room received a report of the fire at around 8pm. Patrol cars from Ajman Police diverted traffic to make way for Civil Defence teams, who arrived at the scene within four minutes, according to Brig Gen Ali Al Shamsi, director general of Ajman Civil Defence. The fire was extinguished by 11.48pm using more than 3 million litres of water and 6,500 litres of foam. The teams surrounded the scene to prevent the flames from spreading, said Brig Gen Jumeirah. “Black smoke covered the area as the fire spread quickly due to the nature of the stored products, however the fire was controlled quickly and prevented from spreading to other warehouses or neighbouring buildings,” Brig Al Shamsi said. Civil Defence praised the "great help" from Ajman Planning and Municipality Department as well as the Federal Electricity and Water Authority. The site was cooled for two hours before it was handed over to police to investigate the cause of the blaze.
