Fountain is mall's crowning glory

DUBAI // Creating a spectacle to rival the world's largest shopping mall was always going to be a tall order. The answer is the world's largest performing water feature, which was yesterday turned on as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, officially opened the Dubai Mall shopping complex and the giant fountain in the lake outside. Thousands of spectators cheered as the dancing jets of coloured water, set to popular Arabic and world music, were blasted up to 150 metres in the air. The fountain's main beam of light, rising upwards, is said to be visible from 20 miles away.
