ABU DHABI// A 70-year-old woman has been jailed for attempting to prostitute another woman to a undercover policeman for Dh80,000.
The criminal court handed N, a Palestinian, and the woman she tried to sell, A, an Iraqi in her 40s, five-years in prison, followed by deportation.
The woman were convicted after the policeman filmed the negotiations while posing as a customer.
The court was shown the video of the two women having a long discussion with the officer.
The women denied the charges, saying they were only negotiating a wedding dowry for A.
“I have been living in the country for 56 years, why would I do such an act now?” N argued in an earlier hearing.
The court heard that A was divorced from an Emirati man. N had convinced her that the potential suitor was affluent, unlike her former husband who was always arguing with her about money.
