Five people were injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in Umm Al Quwain on Sunday. Firefighters, paramedics and police officers were dispatched to the six-storey building in Al Ramla. The National Ambulance service said three people sustained severe injuries in the blaze while two escaped with moderate injuries. “[The] National Ambulance, along with Civil Defence and Umm Al Quwain Police, attended the scene of a fire at a six-storey building in Al Ramla,” a statement from the service said. “Once the call was received, [staff] immediately dispatched eight ambulances and two responders and activated its mass casualty emergency plan." Those injured by the fire received first aid at the scene before being taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital and Umm Al Quwain Hospital for further treatment.
