Firm that gave Abu Dhabi aviation lift-off

Since launching in 1987, the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) has gone from strength to strength.

The company laid the foundations for turning Abu Dhabi into a major centre for aircraft maintenance and repair.

In 2007, as part of a transformation of the company, it was renamed Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (Adat). Today, it is the largest independent third party provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the commercial aviation industry in the Middle East.

Headquartered in Abu Dhabi at the heart of the world's highest-growth aviation market, Adat's location gives it an advantage over its European and US rivals. More than 2,000 staff manage its growing customer portfolio across the globe.

Workshops for component and engine overhaul and repair are situated within the company's 88,000 square metre facility.

The company has cutting-edge test laboratories and has launched an A380 three-bay hangar which enables it to double its heavy maintenance business.

The company is a subsidiary of Mubadala Development, a strategic investment and development vehicle owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.
