DUBAI // Poor families of inmates at Dubai’s correction centres and prisons have been given financial support to buy sacrificial meat for Eid Al Adha.
The initiative was part of Dubai Police’s efforts to support poor families of inmates in cooperation with charity associations and philanthropists.
The inmates’ families were welcomed by Col Marwan Abdulkarim Julfar, acting director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, who gave them Eid greetings and assistance to buy sacrificial animals.
Col Julfar said the initiative benefitted 18 Emirati families at a total cost of Dh9,000.
He urged philanthropists and the public at large to help inmates held over financial cases and inmates’ poor families.
