DUBAI // A father and a woman have been accused of torturing and killing his eight-year-old daughter, before dumping her body in the desert.
The Emirati man was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he killed her, police said.
"Primary investigations suggest that the man was under the influence of alcohol and he was also using drug pills," said Lt General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the head of Dubai Police, last night. He added that the girl's body was undergoing forensic tests. She had reportedly been missing for a day before her remains were found.
Police said the woman, of unknown nationality, was involved in an illicit relationship with the girl's father.
The statement did not clarify when the girl was killed, but said police had finished their investigations within 48 hours.
Police released details of the case late last night after rumours began circulating on the BlackBerry messenger service.
The case has been passed to the Public Prosecution.
