DUBAI// High-performance cars and breathtaking stunts wowed hundreds of petrolheads at the Extreme Car Park gathering on Friday.
Julian Smith, the stunt coordinator for the Hollywood blockbuster Fast and Furious 6, tore around the car park in Dubai Studio City in a Corvette Z06. He was joined by stunt drivers Alex Hill (Nightscape) and Cord Newman (Dukes of Hazzard) as they showed off their drifting skills.
"It has been a lot of fun so far," said Abdullah Al Salaneen, a Jordanian who lives in Dubai.
"I came with a couple of my friends and it's great to see so many people who love cars in one place."
As well as the stunt driving there was a host of customised cars on display.
The event, organised by Ematterz, brought together hundreds of modified vehicles, including hotrods, drifters and classic cars.
A spokesman for the event said it had been a huge success: "We have had thousands of people here today and it's been a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day."
The show, which was free to the public, ran from 4pm to 11pm.
Mr Al Salaneen, who has a 1963 Impala modified with powerful hydraulics, said he "really enjoyed walking around and talking to other car enthusiasts".
"I love classic cars, and to see how people have customised them is amazing."
Despite his love of cars, he admitted he had still not watched Fast & Furious 6, which is the latest installment in the series, and is currently playing in cinemas across the country.
"But I've booked tickets for Monday, so hopefully I can see it then," he said.
