SHARJAH // A farm in Al Dhaid has been uncovered as a storage space for illicit alcohol.
Four Asian men had been using the remote farm as a base for taking orders and then delivering alcohol, Al Dhaid Municipality said.
Alcohol is illegal in Sharjah.
A municipality inspection team raided the farm, on the Fujairah-Al Dhaid road, on Tuesday and seized the alcohol, with the four suspects being handed over to police.
They are accused of using a motorbike to deliver the alcohol to clients who would call them and place an order.
Al Dhaid Municipality director Ali Al Tunaiji said that he was tipped off about the illegal activities at the farm.
“The teams found several types of alcohol stored in the farm and the warehouse that was used was built without the proper authorisation,” he said.
