Farmer jailed after ‘devil told him to sexually assault maid’

DUBAI // A farmer who said the devil was playing with his mind when he sexually assaulted a maid was jailed on Tuesday.

Dubai Criminal Court heard that the farmer Pakistani Z A, 36, kissed and groped Kenyan M T, 20, before trying to have sex with her on December 17 last year.

He had rang her doorbell to ask about her employer. “He asked about the husband and wife, then he inquired about the children,” she said. “I told him that the parents were out and the kids were playing at the neighbour’s house.”

The farmer then asked to come into the house for a glass of water. “He asked me if I was a Muslim and he followed me to the kitchen. I panicked and asked him what he wanted, he then hugged and felt my chest and kissed me on the cheek,” said the maid.

She then shoved him away and fought back when he tried to kiss her mouth. “I tried to run but I fell on the ground. He then hugged me while I was trying to sit up.

“I managed to run away and he told me to not tell anyone and that he would give me money,” she said.

Her Emirati sponsor, M N A, told police: “The defendant told me before he was arrested that the devil played in his mind and he attacked the maid.”

The farmer was sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation.

Popular Vote Tally

The count is ongoing, but Trump currently leads with nearly 51 per cent of the popular vote to Harris’s 47.6 per cent. Trump has over 72.2 million votes, while Harris trails with approximately 67.4 million.
