DUBAI // Motorbikes will be showcased along with classic Mercedes, Ferraris and Ford Mustangs for the first time at the Emirates Classic Car Festival. Scheduled to coincide with the 40th National Day celebrations, the show's organiser, Emaar Properties, will hold the event at Emaar Boulevard on December 1 to December 3. The largest bike show in the Middle East comes to Dubai Festival City, with a BMX competition and stunts on display. Thousands of visitors have attended the exhibition, which has featured hundreds of classic European and American cars over the past three years. Car enthusiasts can get up close to classic cars more than 80 years old. Owners will also take part in a parade that will tour around central Dubai. There are 14 different competition categories, including a public poll. Classic car experts will score the vehicles on the basis of originality, engine cleanliness, original car colour, historical car value, finishing and aesthetics. Classic car and motorbike owners can register by emailing a description and photograph of the vehicle to eccf@emaarinfo.ae. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the Automobile Touring Club UAE, said: "The UAE has a rich history in classic cars, with several collectors who have some of the most-cherished automobiles that are historically invaluable. "The festival brings the best in classic cars from passionate collectors in addition to the new addition of classic motorbikes this year," said Ahmad Al Matrooshi, the managing director of Emaar Properties. "The event also marks a tribute by Emaar Properties to the UAE, as the people join hands to celebrate the spirit of solidarity marking the UAE National Day."
