UAE residents can be happy campers thanks to a move allowing free caravan stays on Dubai beaches. Dubai Municipality confirmed that people can enjoy an extended beach break by applying online for a 15-day permit. Dawood Al Hajri, director general of Dubai Municipality, said the initiative would allow campers to make the most of the winter sunshine on the sands. He said the first beach to be designated under the scheme was Al Sufouh, adjacent to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Street. “This comes with the aim of ensuring that camping enthusiasts and caravan owners in the emirate enjoy the distinctive atmosphere of the beaches throughout the year, especially in the winter season,” he said. “This initiative will contribute to enhancing the happiness and satisfaction of the members of the society.” He also called for campers to ensure they respect the rules regarding staying on beaches. “Dubai Municipality teams, in co-operation with other government bodies, will take the necessary steps towards site follow-up to ensure that everyone adheres to the regulatory controls,” he said.
