The family of a Dubai-based British teenager who fell from the 11th floor of a building after attending a party say they are still seeking answers into the cause of his death.

DUBAI// The family of a Dubai-based British teenager who fell from the 11th floor of a building at the weekend say they are still seeking answers into the cause of his death.

Harry Harling, a Year 11 pupil at Jumeirah College, had gone to a building that was under construction after attending a party on Friday night, Dubai Police said on Monday.

There was "light drinking" involved at the party, they said.

The British Embassy in Dubai this morning released a statement on behalf of the Harling family.

"This is an extremely tragic and difficult time for our family," the statement said.

"No official information on circumstances around Harry's death has yet been made available by Dubai Police.

"We are grateful for the support we have received already from many people but would like to ask all to respect our privacy as we learn more about the circumstances of Harry's death, grieve and come to terms with the loss of a wonderful son and brother."

Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, the head of Dubai Police CID said the investigation was ongoing but no criminal intent was suspected.

In a circular by Jumeirah College earlier this week, the principal urged Harry's friends to assist with the investigation by providing information about his whereabouts at the time of the incident.

"If any student had contact with Harry over the weekend and feels that they can assist the police in piecing together a clearer picture of his movements, the college can put you in touch with the appropriate investigating officer," the college's statement read.

Harry's death prompted a flood of tributes on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.
