ABU DHABI // Etihad Airways is investigating a possible leak of data belonging to members of its loyalty programme.

The airlines said the information was obtained through a third-party marketing company during a promotional campaign in 2013.

An Etihad Airways spokesman said the data, which belonged to Etihad Guest members, does not include sensitive or financial information and presents no threat to the security of the members’ accounts.

“Etihad Guest takes the security and privacy of its members very seriously and has taken immediate action to address any concerns,” said the spokesman.

“As a result the airlines is considering all its legal option as a matter of priority.”
