Thick fog descended over much of the UAE, as speed limits were reduced on major roads for the fourth time this week. The majority of the country was affected by the bad early-morning weather, with fog affecting most of the coast and large parts inland. Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology issued an alert as visibility dropped to one kilometre, prompting police to lower the speed limit to 80kph on several motorways. It was the latest in a run of bad early-morning weather this month, but it is expected to be the last until the weekend. The fog could return again on Saturday morning in some eastern and northern areas, NCM forecast. Wednesday’s gloomy weather is expected to lift by 11am, leaving a fair to partly sunny day that will be accompanied by a rise in temperature. The mercury could hit 28°C on the coast and up to 32°C inland. Wind will be light to moderate, and conditions will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman. Humidity will rise again overnight, reaching up to 95 per cent across the country. Thursday and Friday will be hazy and partly cloudy.
