UAE weather: New Year's Eve to be balmy and breezy

Temperatures will be five degrees warmer than average in Dubai

Partygoers in the UAE can expect a warm welcome into 2020 with higher temperatures and a breezy New Year's Day.

In Abu Dhabi, December 31 will have a high of 26°C, dropping to 17°C in on New Year's Eve but still two degrees warmer than average.

Skies will be partly cloudy in Dubai and temperatures will reach a low of 19°C, five degrees warmer than usual.

Temperatures are predicted to hit 11°C in Ras Al Khaimah on New Year's Eve, although campers might want to pack an extra blanket if they are headed to the mountains. January temperatures in the emirate regularly dip to single digits.

New Year’s Eve will have a waxing crescent moon, so expect a starry sky and a little moonlight if you plan to ring in 2020 from the desert.

New Year’s Day will be warm and partly cloudy, with a high of 26°C. A breezy afternoon is forecast, with winds of up to 40km per hour. By evening, seas will be rough in the west of Abu Dhabi.
