ABU DHABI // Heavy fog and mist blanketed much of the country on Monday morning with similar conditions forecast for Tuesday. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology warned of fog on Sunday, saying visibility would be reduced to 500 metres in some areas. Flights have been disrupted throughout the country due to the weather. Conditions will otherwise be fair to partly cloudy over some areas on Monday and forecasters expect moderate winds to freshen at times over the western sea areas. Temperatures will range between 17°C and 32°C inland. The coastal areas will only be slightly cooler, recording highs of 29°C and lows of 17°C. Conditions will be cooler still in the mountains, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 23°C. Humidity will increase by the evening and early on Tuesday morning over some coastal and internal areas, leading to more fog. Motorists are advised to drive with extra caution and to use fog lights – not hazard lights – if necessary. The Arabian Gulf will be rough but is expected to become moderate by night, with slight to moderate conditions forecast in the Sea of Oman. Similar weather conditions are expected over the next two days, the NCMS said. newsdesk@thenational.ae
