Although the rain is expected to subside, sandstorms will continue across the UAE on Monday, as strong winds blow dust and reduce visibility.

The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts cloud over much of the country, especially in northern and eastern areas.

Temperatures could reach 21°C in Abu Dhabi and 23°C in Dubai, it said.

Wind speeds may reach 55kmph by the coast and in mountainous regions.

The sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate, becoming rough at times, in the Sea of Oman.

On Sunday, an alert was issued by the weather bureau as sandstorms and rain swept across the country.

Heavy rain fell on Dubai on Sunday afternoon as the UAE's wild month of unseasonal weather continued.
