ABU DHABI // Dust storms, rough seas and rain are set to hit the country from Monday.
Motorists and fishermen have been warned to expect poor visibility and rough seas until Wednesday.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has urged drivers to be cautious on the roads due to low visibility and slippery surfaces.
“Drivers should take precautions on the roads due to blowing dust and sand,” the centre said.
“The weather will be partly cloudy and dusty over open areas. The cloud amount will increase, especially over coastal, island and northern areas, with a chance of rain increasing during the night.
“This weather is due to a surface low pressure extending from the south-west of the country associated with an upper air trough cold air mass,” the centre added.
Moderate to fresh winds with cloudy skies will kick up dust and sand in different parts of the country. The sea will be rough in general, it said.
The conditions will persist until Wednesday with an increased risk of rain – especially over the northern and coastal areas.
The seas will also be rough during Wednesday but should ease off by the evening, the centre said.
