Maitha Sultan Saif Al Nuaimi was one of five winners of the Masdar's national student art competition yesterday.
The 13-year-old Emirati impressed with a colour drawing of a city powered by renewable energy from Masdar.
Lucy Choi Ji Soo, 15, won for her drawing of an hourglass showing renewable energy emerging over time.
The three other winners were Madhur Singal's painting, My dream, a green UAE; Mostafa Sedky's concept of how renewable energy reduces the carbon footprint of buildings; and Mohammed Zoheb's painting of a leaf growing in the desert.
The students were asked to submit art that artistically and creatively addressed the question: "What does a green, sustainable future look like in the UAE?".
The contest was held ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which started yesterday.
More than 50 entries were received from 18 schools across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. Winners will each receive an iPhone 5 or an iPad mini.
