UAE reservoirs collect 213,908 cubic metres of rainwater from September 4 to 8

The amount of rainwater collected in dam reservoirs from September 4 to 8 reached 213,908 cubic metres, the Ministry of Energy has said.

During the period, heavy rains lashed part of the country including at Khor Fakkan and Masafi leading to a buildup of water in the dams. For example, The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology shared videos of motorists trying to cross through water in Wadi Al Qawr.

The statistic was reported by the state news agency Wam on Friday.

According to the ministry, 30,400 cubic metres of water accumulated and overflowed at Al Daoudi Dam, which has a storage capacity of 18,000 cubic metres. Other dams such as Al Amim, Al Qasa'a and Al Ghail also collected significant amounts of water.

The ministry called on those who frequent valleys to exercise caution and adhere to the safety guidelines.
