Parklife on the increase in Ajman

Ajman Municipality has opened 14 parks since 2013, with more in the pipeline.

AJMAN // The number of public parks in Ajman has increased from five in 2013 to 19 this year and that total is due to increase to 25 in two years.

The Agriculture and Public Parks Administration at Ajman Municipality and Planning Department said it will add more green spaces in areas such as Masfout and Al Manama.

The department last year opened a 22,000 square metre Flag Park, which features a 122-metre UAE flag.

Al Safia Park, overlooking Ajman Creek, spreads over 160,000 square metres and has a 1,800-metre rubber running track, a play zone for kids and 500 palm trees.

In Masfout, 13,500 square metre Waraqa Park has many trees and has, as its centrepiece, the house of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the founder of the emirate, as an archaeological and tourist landmark.

Meanwhile, the 33,000 square metre Mazira Park, which opens soon, was planted with palm trees, grass and flowers and has a play zone for children and seating for families.

This year work began on a Dh5 million, 40,000 square metre sports park, which will be the first of its kind in the emirate. It features an outdoor gym and will be open next year.

In addition, Heritage Park will be made only of traditional materials and is set to be completed in 2017.
