The Ministry of Environment and Water has launched a drone-based technology to audit and monitor works on quarries and crushers throughout the country.
The new drone-based technology will render 3D imaging and detailed topographic maps that will allow close monitoring.
This step is in line with adopting best practices in environmental protection and in accordance with government instructions, to ensure environmental sustainability and a comprehensive infrastructure, enhancing the global position of the UAE as a pioneer in innovation, the ministry said.
Adopting the drone-based technology is a new initiative in ministry efforts to evaluate the implementation of federal legislation on quarries and crushers, thus enhancing environmental sustainability, said Ghanem Al Shamsi, a ministry official.
