Balloon operators are seeing a rush of day-trippers keen to see Dubai from the sky. Dense fog has hit the city for days . Among the tour operators is Balloon Adventures Dubai, which The National joined this week. Five balloons carrying up to 24-passengers-each took to the skies in thick fog at the weekend and gave a thrilling experience to those brave enough to take the trip. The flights are expertly controlled and piloted so there is little chance of anything awry happening even at 1,200 metres. Despite the economic impact of the pandemic, Balloon Adventures has managed to stay afloat by focusing on the domestic market, rather than foreign holidaymakers who had been its core market. Travel restrictions and a lack of social interaction during the pandemic has been a boon to the company, as the UAE’s residents seek out experiences that take them beyond the hum drum and into the ether.
