Enoc to roll out self-service petrol pumps at 10 Dubai stations

Enoc experimented with self-service petrol pumps in 2008, but the trial was scrapped after it found that two-thirds of customers disliked it.

DUBAI // Drivers filling up their cars at night will have to pump their own petrol.

From July, 10 Enoc stations will introduce self-service between midnight and 6am.

The Dubai government owned company said the move was intended to familiarise drivers with self-service. It said it had initially selected quieter stations.

“We have been modernising and updating our systems to facilitate self-service at 10 service stations,” said Burhan Al Hashemi, managing director of Enoc retail. “We will also extend support to customers in the initial days to familiarise them with fuel dispensing.”

Staff affected by the change are being moved to other stations.

A 2008 self-service trial at 10 stations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates was scrapped after Enoc found two-thirds of customers disliked it.
