SHARJAH // A nine-month-old Emirati girl was admitted to Al Qasimi hospital after allegedly being tortured by her family’s maid in Sharjah, police said.
Sharjah Police command centre were tipped off about the incident after the girl was admitted to the intensive care unit suffering from bruises and injuries.
Police have taken the family’s Indonesian maid into custody.
Last year, a 3-year-old boy was severely burnt after the family’s Indonesian maid poured acid on the adopted boy in the bathroom.
The maid was found guilty by Sharjah Court of Appeal and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

What is graphene?
Graphene is extracted from graphite and is made up of pure carbon.
It is 200 times more resistant than steel and five times lighter than aluminum.
It conducts electricity better than any other material at room temperature.
It is thought that graphene could boost the useful life of batteries by 10 per cent.
Graphene can also detect cancer cells in the early stages of the disease.
The material was first discovered when Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov were 'playing' with graphite at the University of Manchester in 2004.
