Relief teams from the Emirate Red Crescent distributed winter aid to displaced Iraqi families in Erbil.
Supervised by the UAE consulate, the teams visited families who have fled violence and have taken temporary refuge in construction sites.
They were provided stoves, cooking gas and food packages, the state news agency Wam reported on Tuesday.
Iraq’s Kurdistan is currently harbouring more than 1.6 million displaced citizens who have fled the fighting and armed attacks, in addition to more than 250,000 Syrian refugees. The province is facing great difficulty securing aid at a time when the government is facing economic hardships.
