Elderly and disabled Emiratis get cut-price cab fares

Emiratis who are older than 60, disabled or have a chronic illness are to be eligible for 50 per cent off their taxi fares.

Starting next Thursday, Emiratis who are older than 60, disabled or have a chronic illness will be eligible for 50 per cent off their taxi fares, officials said today. Meanwhile, a 25 per cent discount will be available in the the cab for other Emiratis receiving social benefits, such as widows and divorced women. There are just under 10,000 people registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs who will be eligible for one of the discounts, a ministry official said.
