Six UAE institutions have made it into the list of the top 25 universities in the Middle East and North Africa Region in the first QS rankings [Quacquarelli Symonds] for the region.
UAE University placed highest at number six, American University of Sharjah at number 7 and American University in Dubai at 19.
QS is one of a number of rankings systems that are increasingly looking at the growing Middle East and North Africa region. Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals came in first place and in second was the American University in Beirut.
Khalifa University placed at 24. Prof Tod Laursen, the uni’s president said: “We are very pleased with our university’s performance in the latest QS rankings. As nice as this recognition is, however, it is important for us all to know that our work is far from done.”
