UAE educators to learn about classroom technology developments in Dubai

DUBAI // Giant interactive touchboards and a system that allows teachers to stream videos to pupils’ smartphones and tablet computers are part of a classroom revolution on display this week.

Thousands of teachers and education officials are expected at a three-day conference in Dubai on the latest developments in technology, with more than 450 exhibitors showing off their latest products.

“Governments in the region are focusing on implementing smart technologies across educational institutes, introducing smart learning and ultimately improving students’ education,” said Ravinder Kumar, of Sharp Middle East and Africa.

“This year we will showcase the latest intelligent technology products as well as content, classroom management and learning-management systems.”

The video-streaming system can also work for distance-learning courses and is among a host of new technologies that aim to build on the digital classroom.

The event also brings together educators from around the world to exchange ideas with principals and senior teachers from some of the countries’ top schools on hand to discuss their pioneering work.

A key theme this year is how to motivate students into learning in a way that is engaging and fun.

The Global Educational Supplies and Solutions 2016 event takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre from Tuesday to Thursday.
