This year's graduates from the UAE University will take with them the knowledge and skills to serve their society and the environment to the benefit of their country, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said yesterday.
Sheikh Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and former chancellor of the institution, was speaking after the graduation ceremony of its 32nd class.
Attending were Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and the Crown Princes of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah.
Ministers and senior officials were also in attendance.
Sheikh Nahyan, formerly the Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, thanked the President Sheikh Khalifa for his support to the university.
He also thanked Sheikh Mohammed, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for their support.
Sheikh Nahyan said the university, which has achieved a worldwide reputation, has graduated about 60,000 students since its inception 30 years ago.
The 436 graduates expressed their thanks and appreciation to the country's leadership for their great attention to, and support for, students at the university.
