The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah offered life lessons and shared his vision for a better world during a video call with school pupils. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi told of his desire to improve the lives of people in the emirate as he fielded questions from Grade 1 pupils at Ras Al Khaimah Academy. The royal appointment was a learning experience for the children, as Sheikh Saud regaled them with stories from his own childhood, shared his academic experiences and stressed the importance of education. The UAE Supreme Council member called on the next generation to stay true to themselves to secure success in life. A video of the online session was shared on Tuesday, showing one of the pupils asking Sheikh Saud about his favourite subjects at school, to which he replied “physics and mathematics”. Another pupil asked him if he ever became bored while being the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. He said that he never does, and always enjoys working more. When asked what his one rule for the whole world would be, Sheikh Saud said that he would like all nations to invest as much as they can in education to make for a better society. He said the reopening of schools in September would only happen once all precautionary measures had been met, because the safety of pupils and teachers is the top priority. “Each year, I look forward to meeting the first graders at Ras Al Khaimah Academy as their academic year draws to a close, and today I had the pleasure of talking to them remotely,” Sheikh Saud said. “During our conversation, I sensed their spontaneity, their great passion for learning and their infinite curiosity. “We must all dedicate ourselves to providing our children with the love and support they need to prosper. “I have confidence in our youth to continue the legacy of our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, may God bless him, in building a country that plays its part in creating a better future for humanity.”
