ABU DHABI // Officials at Khalifa University say a new laboratory will promote research in molecular biology and energy.

The laboratory at the university’s Abu Dhabi campus will assist research in micro-electrical mechanical systems for use in the fields of molecular biology and energy, according to Wam, the state news agency.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a clean room as well as machines and raw materials needed to develop miniature devices for biological applications, micro-sensors, micro-actuators and other uses.

Khalifa University previously established the Khalifa Semiconductor Research Centre and the Visual Signal Analysis and Process Centre.

“These research facilities are supporting the UAE’s efforts in advancing key sectors through innovation and research, in a way that benefits the country and its economy,” said Dr Arif Al Hammadi, executive vice president of the university.
