Higher education institutions in the UAE should equalise graduates of the national service programme to high school graduates starting at the beginning of the 2015-2016 academic year, the Coordinating Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research recommended on Wednesday.
The council also recommended that a proposal be sent to universities for review regarding students who exceeded the percentage of non-conventional hours within the degree that requires equivalency, state news agency Wam said.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presided over the council’s third meeting.
The council also recommended the development of an action plan for a proposed project on competitiveness indicators for higher education and scientific research.
