Dubai Cares launches Rwanda education programmes

Dubai Cares launched two Dh8.9m programmes in Rwanda to provide students with leadership skills and increase their access to quality Early Childhood Education (ECE).

The programmes, which target more than 18,600 young people and children across the country, will also provide students with entrepreneurship and workforce readiness as well as mentorship to start businesses at school.

The “Learning and Innovation Partnership” with “Educate!” is a two year-programme that will provide teachers with practical training and equip 16,000 young Rwandan students to be leaders.

Early Childhood Education, a three year-programme launched in partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), will prepare 2,610 children aged from three to six in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke district to enter the school environment through a combination of activities that will provide them with the skills needed to succeed in primary school.

It is also aimed at strengthening the education system by coaching teachers and empowering educational officials to better manage their limited resources and engage children with disabilities.

The programmes were launched on the occasion of the International Youth Day this week.
