Adec hosts orientation for more than 600 public school teachers

ABU DHABI // More than 600 new public school teachers took part in a one-day orientation organised by Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec).

At the event, Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, Adec’s director general, gave a speech about its education reforms. “The curriculum focuses on a student’s thinking skills, problem-solving and communication skills, and is designed to enhance a student’s performance to reach international levels,” Dr Al Nuaimi told the Emirati, Arab and western recruits. “Which is exactly why we require teachers, such as yourselves, to understand and implement the curriculum in classrooms.”

Teachers were given briefs on their roles, performance standards, tips on getting started, and how to be successful in their work. They were also briefed on the UAE’s cultural identity, its societal norms, values and expectations.

The discussion topics included entitlements such as leave and allowances, the code of conduct and professional support.

Dr Al Nuaimi also stressed Adec’s commitment to offering professional development programmes to its its staff.

Adec was contributing to the emirate’s social and human development and a sustainable, knowledge-based economy, in keeping with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, he said.
