More than Dh8.5 million was generated by transactions through Dubai eGovernments iPhone App and text payment system mPay last year.
The number of transactions increased by 39 per cent from 2011 and revenues by 11 per cent.
mPay allows customers to pay for some government services, either through an iPhone app or via text message to 4488.
The mPay system collected Dh8,530,379 through 36,325 transactions last year - mostly for the payment of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority bills, Roads and Transport Authority fees and Dubai Police fines.
