The nation’s future triathletes are invited to sign up for the third Sun & Sand Sports Junior Triathlon, to be held at Dubai’s Kite Beach on March 7.

While the world’s best compete in the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi, the sport’s next generation of stars will participate in a trio of events including a swim, run and cycle.

Previous events have seen the participation of more than 500 youngsters.

Participants will tackle different distances according to their age group. Younger age groups will begin with a 25-metre swim, 400m bike ride and 200m run, while the oldest age group will perform a 200m swim, 1,600m bike ride and an 800m run.

There will be five age-group categories for participants aged between 4 and 13, with a number of prizes up for grabs.

Miquel Pancorbo of Gulf Marketing Group and Sun & Sand Sports, the event’s host, said, “With global events like the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi on our doorstep, kids in the UAE are getting more and more excited about triathlon.”

“The Sun & Sand Sports Junior Triathlon encourages children to compete or try the sport for the first time, whilst teaching aspiring qualities such as strength, perseverance and friendly competitive spirit.”
