DUBAI // Seven million counterfeit medicine pills worth more than Dh70 million have been seized in Dubai in what Dubai custom consider is the biggest confiscation operation in the region. The drugs were counterfeit Viagra as well as other sexual supplements that are banned in the UAE. Dubai Customs seized the pills on May 6 after an investigation revealed that they were being hidden in a warehouse in the dry port. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, the Dubai Customs director general, said that the drugs came from an Arab country. He declined to name the country, saying it would harm the course of investigation. Three people have been arrested and are being questioned. Dubai Customs suspect the drugs were intended for re-export to another country. wissa@thenational.ae
