Dubai Police seized more than seven kilograms of heroin and 360 grams of crystal meth in four separate drug busts over the past three months.
In one of the operations, police were tipped off about two men — both of Asian origin — who were allegedly using and trafficking drugs into Sharjah.
According to Brig Gen Eid Harib, director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, the men were arrested in two hotel apartments in Sharjah and police seized 242 capsules of heroin weighing almost 2kg.
“123 capsules of heroin were found inside a plastic bag in a secret pocket located at the bottom of a travel suitcase, while one of the offenders admitted having a number of capsules inside his stomach,” he said.
The man was taken to Rashid Hospital where they extracted the remaining 119 capsules from his stomach.
As for the second operation, Brig Gen Harib said they arrested another man — also of Asian origin — in Sharjah under similar circumstances. Police found Dh1,500 and 140 capsules of heroin in his possession.
“He admitted that the money was giving to him by another person living in his home country in return for trafficking the drugs.
“A plastic bag with 140 capsules were found next to the suspect during the arrest,” said Brig Gen Harib
The third operation was carried out in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police who arrested two Asian men in separate raids in Al Ain.
Police found plastic bags in their car containing 310g of heroin, 284 capsules and 56g of crystal meth.
In the fourth incident, three Asian suspects were arrested in Dubai with 2kg of heroin in their possession
“The team received information about one of the suspects that confirmed his use and possession of drugs for trafficking,” said Brig Gen Harib.
Two of the men were arrested carrying 2kg of heroin.
During questioning, one of the men admitted that a third person had been supplying them with drugs. Police arrested the third suspect too.
