DUBAI // One hundred and twenty workers who were evicted from their accommodation have been found a new home thanks to the police.
The workers were employed by a company that was facing financial problems, so it could not afford to pay their salaries or pay the rent on their home.
Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National, said the property owner filed a case against the company at the Rental Disputes Centre, which ruled that the workers must vacate the accommodation.
As the workers and their belongings were being evicted by the owner, police attended the scene and tried to negotiate with the property owner.
Alternative accommodation was found within one day, which the workers have now moved into.
Dubai Police’s Human Rights Department has also begun negotiations with the courts to ensure the workers receive their back pay.
