DUBAI // Anti-narcotics police say they helped foil four international cocaine smuggling operations in the past three months.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Deputy Chief Commander for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, said the quantities seized amounted to 43kg. Smugglers were targeting Accra in Ghana, Abuja and Lagos in Nigeria, and Athens in Greece.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director at the General Directorate for Drug Control, said the smugglers had all concealed drugs in their luggage using internal pockets and secret compartments. The smugglers heading to Athens had concealed 6kg in plastic containers.
Colonel Hareb said that “international cooperation was a key foundation to the Department’s work”.
