DUBAI // Customs officers at Dubai airport found two kilograms of a crystal narcotic hidden in secret pockets of a suitcase that was on a flight from Nigeria to India, via Ethiopia and Dubai.
Ali Al Maqhawi, the director of airport operations at Dubai Customs, reported that customs officers became suspicious of the bag, which came from Addis Ababa, after it passed the inspection area without being collected.
The man who was travelling with the bag, an African national, drew further suspicion when he booked a ticket to continue to Delhi.
At Dubai airport the bag was run through a scanning machine that showed the substance in the bottom and sides.
Dubai Customs passed information to police in India where the authorities confirmed the bag held drugs. The owner of the bag was arrested and banned from entering the country.
