A security guard stole shaving cream, a razor and some Viagra from the pharmacy he was guarding, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The Pakistani defendant, 23, was reported to police on May 2 after a customer lost his phone in the pharmacy while the guard was working.
"The customer called me and said that he forgot his mobile inside the pharmacy and when he returned to the place to pick it up, he didn't find it and suspected the guard took it and switched it off," said the Indian pharmacist from Aster Pharmacy in Al Qusais.
The pharmacist questioned the guard about the missing mobile phone the next day but he denied having any involvement.
"At that point, I searched his bag and found the shaving kit and the Viagra," said the pharmacist, 39.
The accused was reported to police where, during questioning, he admitted to stealing the items and handed them all over, including the mobile phone.
In court on Wednesday, the defendant denied a charge of theft.
"I am being framed, someone else stole the items and put them inside my bag," he told judges.
A verdict will be issued on June 6.
