Dubai manager jailed for kissing employee’s hand

DUBAI// A manager has been jailed for three months for kissing the hand of a female employee.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard that on February 19 this year Indian M P, 43, promised he could help Emirati K A, 26, pass an exam, before he kissed her hand.

“I never did anything to her or even touch her. I am innocent,” said M P, before he entered a plea of not guilty.

K A told the court: “It was nearly 11.30pm and I was at work at Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport where I work as a customer service agent.

“I took a short break and headed to the Indian airline section where the defendant was and he saw me heading to the break room.”

She added that M P joined her in the room and they spoke about her aviation exam. “I went to the testing room and logged into the system to check the exam, he came and said he could help me with the exam, I said alright.

“While there I dropped my pen and when I reached for it he grabbed my hand and kissed it telling me not to worry and that he would help me pass the exam,” said K A.

K A was upset and left the room immediately. Later in the day she informed her husband. The couple went to the airport’s police station and reported M P.

Prosecutors said M P confessed during investigations but in court he denied the charge of molestation.

MP was also sentenced to deportation after completing his jail term.
