Dubai man stabbed in dispute over money

Man stabbed several times after being approached by two men who asked him for visas

A Dubai man was allegedly stabbed in the head, neck and chest in a dispute over money.
On August 18 last year, the Sri Lankan defendent, 21, contacted another Sri Lankan, 33, and asked them to meet him at a bus station near Burj Al Arab, Dubai.

When the latter arrived, he was met by the defendent and another man.

“They asked me to help issue three visit visas. I told them I could not do so and advised them to seek the help of another person. Then, all of a sudden, one of them started stabbing me,” said the older man.

It was not made clear why the two men would ask him for visas. 
The man did not report the incident, but a passer by spotted the attacker in bloodied clothes near a mosque in Al Satwa and called police.
"We were dispatched to the location where the attacker was and he admitted willingly that he stabbed a man," said a Yemeni policeman.
He told the officers that the victim owed him money and would not pay it back.
A Nepalese worker found the victim in a pool of blood at the bus station and also called police. He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery that saved his life.
In court on Sunday morning, the accused denied a charge of attempted murder.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 26.
