Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has announced new efforts to boost education and encourage creativity among orphans in the UAE.

Through its Ruwad initiative, orphans will have the opportunity to receive training in sustainability in the UAE and overseas.

A total of 383 youth will participate in the programme, with the top Emirati female and male students being sent to Singapore for six days to attend workshops at the International Creativity Camp, participate in competitions, and complete projects with a specific purpose to serve the UAE.

Finally, the students will attend an orientation at Jebel Ali Power Station, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Dewa Academy, and the Mai Dubai factory.

Dewa’s chief, Saeed Al Tayer said the initiative “supports our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility and our strategy to support the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021 to strengthen Dubai’s position as a cohesive integrated society, and our continuous efforts to support philanthropy and humanitarianism locally and globally.”

The initiative is being conducted in cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs And Endowments, the Minors Affairs Foundation, and the non-profit INJAZ UAE Foundation.
